Clarke And Dawe Explain Our Electoral System, The Only Way They Can

Politics is hard to understand at the best of times, so thank the heavens that we have Clarke And Dawe to wade through the murky swamp of Australian political sphere and dig out a gold nugget of truth from there within, as they explain the Australian Electoral system as only they can. Through irony.

As always we see the duo facing off in a current affairs style political interview, and once again Clarke is pretending to be someone he’s not, although this time he’s just plain made someone up rather than impersonate a known politician as he often does. Pretending to be an investment banker named Horace Cope (get it?), Clarke offers some very interesting insights into the backrooms of power during the interview.

According to Cope, Barnaby Joyce is running the country (in between running Johnny Depp and his dogs out of the country) while the government has been in caretaker mode, and Malcolm Turnbull is having an election because he wants “to stop being a caretaker and start being Prime Minister”. The brutal truths were flying thick and fast.

The best and most telling joke of all though comes when Mr. Cope is asked how long the current election cycle is, to which he replies “nine years.” Thinking back to Kevin 07 it certainly feels that way.

Watch the whole hilarious thing for yourself here.
