Watch Dogs 2 Release Date and San Francisco Setting Revealed

The Watch Dogs 2 release date has seemingly been revealed, with advertisements for the game listing it as November 15th, 2016, alongside images that point towards the game being set in San Francisco.

A since-removed banner ad on the IGN site, spotted by journalist David Scammell, features the game’s new protagonist – who you can take a closer look at here – standing in front of the cityscape of San Fran and the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s listed for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, which suggests that it won’t launch on last-generation consoles unlike the previous entry in the series.

With Ubisoft having revealed that they won’t release a new Assassin’s Creed game this year, Watch Dogs 2 is being positioned as the company’s biggest launch of 2016. While the original Watch Dogs performed well in terms of sales, many branded it a disappointment upon due to it featuring downgraded graphics since its debut E3 showing, along with an open-world environment that was less ground-breaking than had been touted by its developers.

However, Ubisoft clearly has high hopes for its sequel, and hopefully Watch Dogs 2 can capitalize upon some of the unexplored potential of the previous game come its launch in November. We’ll inevitably learn a lot more about the game come next week at E3 2016.
