You work hard during the week. Whether it’s cramming school assignments or a high demand job, the daily grind is one that likely results in you losing a good amount of sleep. And if you keep that up for too long, you just end up being the cranky a-hole that nobody likes.
When the weekend hits, you might try to catch up on some sleep, which has for years been debunked as a method that doesn’t work because sleep isn’t like debt you can pay back with snoozing. However, according to some new research, all those hours spent being a lazy slob on the couch following a week of sleep deprivation might just be time well spent after all.
Being Lazy On The Weekend Is Good For You, Says Study
Hell yes! Time to crash out and disconnect your brain from society for a couple of days since it turns out your body needs the ZZZs.
Researchers at Stockholm University examined the sleeping habits of 43,000 people and published their results in a journal called “Sleep” (because what the hell else would they call it?). According to their research, people who sleep more than eight or less than five hours a night have higher mortality rates, and the difference maker appears to be a person’s average amount of sleep.
Author of the study Torbjörn Åkerstedt believes these results give more incentive to being a lazy ass on Saturday and Sunday so, get your comfy pants on, y’all!
From Business Insider:
“It seems like you actually can compensate by catching up on sleep during weekends. This is, in effect, an argument for lazing around all weekend. There probably is an upper limit, but it’s anyway better to increase [sleep hours] on the weekend rather than not doing it at all.”
Oh, man, this is great news! If you find yourself burned out from a week of Hell, get yourself to your couch and veg the hell out for two straight days. You don’t want to do any harm to your body, do you? Of course you don’t. Now sit back, relax, and watch this video of Bruce Lee with lightsaber nunchucks for no reason other than it’s awesome to watch before you fall asleep.
