Talk about restraint. A 19-year-old substitute teacher at Crest Middle School in Shelby, North Carolina, waited a whopping four days into her tenure before she began sexting her middle school students.
Emily Durden sent both sexual videos and photos to several 13- and 14-year-old boys, one of whom alerted his parents. We don’t know what kind of a lesson she planned to teach the young men, but she got schooled in the workings of the legal system in the process.
The naughty instructor was arrested and charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student, three counts of displaying material harmful to a minor, and two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Though she was released on $50,000 bond, it’s probably safe to say she’ll never see the inside of a classroom again – at least, not in any kind of educator capacity.
While getting dirty pics from a sub is probably at the top of many male middle schooler’s fantasies, in school districts like this one, which only requires that substitute teachers be over 18 years of age, have a high school degree, and be deemed “appropriate” by administrators, we wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes reality for more tweens.
Be careful what you wish for, kids. Being teacher’s pet is a whole new thang these days.
