Startup Creates Real-Life Invisibility Shield, But Don’t Let Kanye Find Out About It

Kickstarter has been the birthplace of some pretty whacky inventions. From the edible cup to a helmet pillow shaped like an ostrich head, there’s been no shortage of ridiculous must-have creations sprung from the human mind. But nothing sounds as fun or imperative as the real-life invisibility shield you can use to perform all manner of hijinx.

British startup Invisibility Shield’ Co’s tagline, “Surprise Your Friends. Avoid Your Enemies!” could just as easily work the other way round. Using no-power, hi-tech lightwave manipulation, the freestanding invisibility shield raises the ante on last-minute dinner plan bailing and ex-wife driveway ambushing.

According to the Kickstarter page, “The shields perform at their absolute best against uniform backgrounds such as foliage, grass, rendered walls, sand, sky, and asphalt.” So basically perfect in any situation.

From the looks of it, we’re not the only ones clamoring for an invisibility cloak. So far, the startup has raised north of $152,000, surpassing its original goal of $6,548 by so damn much you’d need to be a math genius to figure it out. Boasting hi-res invisibility across 25 types of shields (combined with a smorgasbord of world problems to hide from), it’s no wonder demand is high.

While it can’t solve all of your problems, it’s a nifty piece of affordable tech that can really give you a leg up in your next game of Hide-and-Go-Seek-Pete-Davidson.
