WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 9: U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris listen to speakers during an event on high speed internet access for low-income Americans, in the Rose Garden of the White House May 9, 2022 in Washington, DC. The Biden administration announced on Monday that it will partner with internet service providers to lower the cost of high speed internet plans for low-income Americans as part of the Affordable Connectivity Program. The plan would provide high speed internet for no more than $30 a month and an estimated 48 million Americans would qualify. (Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty Images)

President Joe Biden Has Covid and Is Experiencing ‘Mild’ Symptoms, But Twitter Is Ready to Swap in Kamala Harris

Presidents. They’re just like us. They get Covid, too, even if they’ve been vaccinated. (For the uneducated, the vaccine doesn’t necessarily prevent you from getting Covid but it does help you fight it off easier.) Yes, Joe Biden tested positive for coronavirus and is experiencing “mild symptoms” according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

“This morning, President Biden tested positive for Covid-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid,” she said. (That’s an antiviral drug from Pfizer that is available for mild to moderate Covid-19 infections.) “Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time.”

The president’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, reported that Biden was “experiencing mild symptoms, mostly rhinorreha (or ‘runny nose’) and fatigue, with an occasional dry cough,” which started Wednesday evening.”

Biden is 79, an age that makes it not so easy to bounce back from illnesses, but of course the White House is playing it cool.

“I anticipate that he will respond favorably, as most maximally protected patients do,” Dr. O’Connor continued.

Twitter, however, does not know how to take a chill pill. Nope, the social media platform is hot to trot to get Vice-President Kamala Harris in the White House ASAP, even (especially?) if that means Biden has to kick the bucket first.

In honor of the possibly-first female president, we rounded up the funniest tweets about the pipe dream of Kamala Harris taking over for Joe Biden.
