Cool Music Inspired By Comic Books

Earlier today, All-Star Western writer Jimmy Palmiotti tweeted a link to this song – “The Death of Jonah Hex” by a band called Ghoultown.

Naturally, this made me think about other music inspired by comic book characters. The first one anyone who knows their history will think of is “Magneto and Titanium Man” by Paul McCartney and the Wings.

Then, there’s the inordinately touching “Superman’s Song” by the Crash Test Dummies, one of many, many songs to deal with our favorite Kryptonian.

How about “The Ballad of Barry Allen” by Jim’s Big Ego?

Or maybe you’d prefer this song about the Incredible Hulk – “Anger/Danger” by My Special Agent, a band with some serious nerd cred – songs about Gaius Baltar and The X-Files, among others.

Of course, Wolverine gets metal from Entombed.

Then we start going off the rails, with “Arthur Curry” by Ookla the Mok, about the glory of Aquaman. They also have a song about “Super Skrull.” Come on down, Nerd Rockers.

Then, we start some random Youtube searches. What do we get? Well, that “Green Lantern” song by Blue Harvest doesn’t seem to be there, but will this one do? “In Brightest Day” by Gary Mitchell?

One might also investigate absolutely anything by MF Doom. Because his whole identity is inspired by Dr. Doom, don’t you know.

And the only appropriate way to end this is with another Ookla The Mok song.
