Exclusive Video: Matt Damon and John Krasinski on Promised Land

“The temptation is to make something that you’ve never done before.”

Matt Damon and John Krasinski aren’t just the stars of Gus Van Sant’s new drama Promised Land, they also co-wrote the screenplay, about a natural gas company salesman (Damon) trying to purchase the land in a small town with a dogged environmental activist (Krasinski) standing in his way. Rosemarie DeWitt co-stars as the schoolteacher who gets caught in the middle of their feud. CraveOnline sat down with Damon, Krasinski and DeWitt to talk about the writing process, working with Oscar nominee Gus Van Sant and playing out a story of old-fashioned American values. And a badass reboot of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” obviously.

Promised Land opens in limited release on December 28, 2012, and expands to theaters everywhere on January 4, 2013.
