Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is probably the most famous person to cross from football to wrestling, but he might end up being the pioneer of a whole wave of football players to find themselves on the World Wrestling Entertainment roster.
Crave’s NESN site this week reported a scheduled meeting between WWE’s Jim Ross and the NFL Players Association to discuss potential jobs for football players who are cut from their teams in the preseason.
This partnership could create a powerhouse from two powerful brands and their respectively powerful marketing machines.
“Everybody doesn’t make the 53-man roster,” Ross told Jim Miller and Alex Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Some guys are going to be looking for work, and we’ve got some job openings. Maybe we can put the synergies of those two entities together and create something wonderful some day.”
