If you’re heading to the capital region to celebrate our country’s birthday, then there’s no other place to be than on Parliament Hill, where musicians like Carly Rae Jepsen, Metric, Marie-Mae, and Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will be hanging out.
All of the festivities will be broadcast live on CBC starting at 11:30am when the noon show begins. Watch as speeches are given by Governor General, David Johnston, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, James Moore. The show will also include a spectacular flyby of CF-18 fighter jets and the Snowbirds Demonstration Team.
The concert will then be hosted by award-winning soprano Measha Bruggergosman with special guest Hélène Campbell, who championed organ donation on social media as she underwent a double-lung transplant in 2012. Musical performances will include Carly Rae Jepsen, Marie-Mai, Metric, and Terri Clark, Karim Ouellet, Jennifer Gillis, and a special acoustic performance by CSA Astronaut Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station.
