It was a bittersweet week for writer/director/producer Peter Jackson, who finished all the scenes for Sir Ian McKellan in the last two Hobbit movies.
McKellan first put on the robes of Gandalf the Grey more than 14 years ago, which prompted Jackson to lament:
“Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I’m feeling very sad right now.”
Crave’s MovieWeb.com reported that for the last few weeks Jackson has been filming extra scenes for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, as well as any extra needed shots for the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
