Tim Hudson Breaks Ankle, Done For Season

I was just one of the many Tim Hudson fans who were tremendously upset Wednesday night after learning that one of my favorite pitchers — and hurler for my fantasy team — got taken out by a fluke play that broke Huddy’s ankle, ending his season.

Hudson was in the middle of one of his best outings of the season when in the bottom of the eighth inning — and hadn’t given up a single run — the pitcher went to make a play at first base when Mets outfielder Eric Young Jr. accidentally stepped on the side of Hudson’s foot, nearly taking it to a 90 degree ankle.

Ya… ankles don’t bend that way…unless they break.

Warning: this video is cringe worthy.

It was confirmed early Thursday that Hudson does have a broken ankle and will require surgery, ending his season. Young was a tremendous sport and immediately ran over to tend to Hudson. They also locked hands while Hudson was being raised onto the stretcher, confirming their sportsmanship.

Hudson will be 39-years-old next year and one can only hope this is not the end for the border-line Hall-of-Famer.

As far as my fantasy team goes, I’m picking up Randall Delgado, who has a favorable matchup this week against the Padres.
