This Tech Squib shows that tasty things can come in anything that looks like a thermos.
You should never store your favorite hot beverage in a Definitive Technology Sound Cylinder, but your music can tuck inside it just fine.
Its docking mechanism mere holds onto any tablet, smartphone or Bluetooth-equipped MP3 player — clamping it securely in place. Once connected via Bluetooth, the 2.1 channel bi-amplified audio system does the rest with well-rounded, bass driven sound.
Made of an aluminum and magnesium alloy and selling around $200, the Sound Cylinder requires no dock or other connection. It settles into place on its wide vertical base and sends sound out almost 360 degrees from its construction.
The design has ample rechargeable battery life and seems rugged enough to go places with your music devices. Note, though, that it isn’t designed to be entirely shock or water resistant. So, again, be careful with that thermos metaphor.
