Assassin’s Creed IV Reroutes with New Characters and Modern Locales

Before all the piracy could begin in the latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, the crew behind Black Flag required a little bit of swashbuckling.

Desmond’s sacrifice in Assassin’s Creed 3 to save the world from absolute annihilation made some gamers feel that the distracting modern day sequences were a thing of the past. So with that it would be counter-productive for Ubisoft to continue with Desmond’s story, or even the story of those he ventured with. Thus when the announcement came out for Black Flag, countless questions were raised such as how is Ubisoft going to proceed this stylistic approach?

Well it turns out that the design team recognized this enigma and set a course to remake the general premise of the game. In an interview between the one of the story writers and Punching Beta, it was revealed that there will be a new path to follow instead of the usual idea of the Templars being the supreme evil that hacks into the minds of someone’s lineage. In the next title, your main character is actually a willing new hire of Abstergo, not a captive or escaped experiment. And to top it off Abstergo has produced the technology to hack into anyone’s line of ancestry so they can eliminate the need for hostile test subjects. However, as far as that goes, the gaming community can only wait to see if Ubisoft has changed the game enough to reinvigorate the original sense of exploration and determination to finish the game without a sheer hatred for repetition.

Regardless of the turnout, plenty of people will be happy to play a game where they can storm in swords flailing and blow things sky-high. I mean, who doesn’t like pirates? Oh yeah, ninjas.
