J.J. Abrams may have been trying to secretly signal his interest in directing the next Star Wars movie — by putting R2-D2 into Star Trek: Into Darkness.
Crave’s /Film posted a screen capture from the latest Star Trek movie showing what appears to be the droid from Star Wars flying through a debris field.
R2-D2 is a regular cameo for sci-fi films. Abrams put him in the Star Trek reboot in 2009, Steven Spielberg added him to Close Encounters of the Third Kind and as a hieroglyph in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
