Collingwood free agent Dale Thomas is set to decide his future in the coming weeks as a number of clubs prepare to lure the injury hit star away from the Magpies with a lucrative offer.
Near the top of that list is Carlton, led by former Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse, but before that Thomas will have to prove his health by undergoing medical tests on an injured ankle.
"There's a couple of clubs that might want to (test him) and we'll look at that next week," Thomas’ agent Paul Connors told SEN radio on Wednesday.
"That's the beauty of free agency, you're allowed to have a look."
The 26-year-old Thomas played just five games in 2013 due to injury issues but maintained the disposal per game mark of slightly below 22 he achieved in 20 games in 2012, down from the 24 and 25 possessions per game he averaged in 2010-11.
Rumours suggest Carlton will bring a $3.5 million, five-year deal to the table..
"They (Carlton) want to talk to him but now that the season's finished (for Collingwood),” confirmed Connors on the Blues interest.
“There might be an opportunity to do that but we'll wait and see and I'll meet with Dale and see what he has to say."
Two de-listed Magpies, Alan Didak and Darren Jolly will play on in 2014.
Connors, also the agent for Jolly, said Collingwood’s move to axed the 237-game veteran came as a shock to both of them.
Didak's manager Adam Ramanauskas said his client is keen to kick on next season.
"He just wants to play," Ramanauskas said.
"He still feels that he's got a couple of (seasons) to go yet.

"He could still kick 30-35 goals no worries as a higher half-forward and his ball use is still right up there."
