Despite a live-action Japanese version of the classic anime Space Battleship Yamato being released in 2010, director Christopher McQuarrie is lining up a film about the American version, Star Blazers.
Skydance Productions hired McQuarrie to work on the film back in 2011 and, following his directing Jack Reacher, also tapped him to direct Mission: Impossible 5.
Crave’s Collider website reported Wednesday M:I5 will start shooting in February 2014. Tom Cruise is accepting the mission as well.
