The John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013 Is The Soppiest One Yet

It’s now become something of a tradition that John Lewis will try to sell us their overpriced guff by releasing a “heartwarming” festive advert, and this year is no different.

The John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013 (that should be trademarked) sees a bear and a hare getting ready for winter. While all the other animals are too busy being excited for Christmas, the bear sits in his cave all day sleeping, which makes the hare very sad.

🙁

Of course, everything is resolved in the end, and it’s saccharine enough to make it a topic of conversation the next time you’re on the phone with your nan. It also features a Lily Allen cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ for some reason.

Well, at least it’s better than last year’s effort, though, which saw a snowman husband buying a pair of gloves, hat and a scarf for his snowman wife. Now I’m no scientist, but I’m pretty sure that heat melts snow, so essentially what we were watching in that advert was attempted murder – or snowmanslaughter, if you want to be whimsical.

Anyway, watch the oh-so-moving John Lewis Christmas Advert 2013 below.
