First Look: Savage Wolverine #14.NOW

The pre-World War II era of Marvel isn't one that's been extensively explored, David Liss' Mystery Men notwithstanding. One of the best ways to flash back to it, aside from 98-pound-weaking Steve Rogers style, would be to get into the head of Wolverine, a man who lived through that era as, well, a man. A mutant man. With claws. And hair. And alcoholism, which makes him perfect to tell a Prohibition-era story.

Here's the official blurb for a new Savage Wolverine story arc entitled "Wrath" – "The year is 1933 at the height of Prohibition. Dust storms rage in the Midwest – and the man who will become the Wolverine makes his living carrying whiskey across the border from Canada. That is, until he finds himself the accidental caretaker of a group of orphans who’ve been targeted by the mob. Now, the first 'X-Man' must choose between the anonymous life he’s chosen or stepping out into the spotlight to defend the innocent once more. "
