Gary Ablett, Pro Skater?

Gary Ablett went for “a skate down memory lane” recently, but the Gold Coast Suns aren’t too concerned about the face of the club risking injury trying his hand at other sports.

Unlike Fremantle ruckman Zac Clarke, who injured his posterior cruciate ligament at The Falls Music Festival last week and will miss a fair chunk of the Dockers’ AFL pre-season, Ablett looks to have held his own after posting a video of himself on a skateboard on Saturday.

The video has already attracted a few thousand likes and while Suns fans probably watched biting their collective nails, Ablett impresses in the six second clip.

The Suns conceded that they’re OK with Ablett trying his hand at other sports.

“As he has spoken about previously, Gary skated regularly as a teenager and we trust he is responsible enough to know his limitations,” a Suns spokesman told news.com.au.

Albett’s love of skating stems from his teenage years and is likely more preferred than some of the other extracurricular activities engaged in by other teammates earlier this summer.

Campbell Brown saw his AFL career end earlier than expected after an incident in Los Angeles involving teammate Steven May.
