Lex Luthor Leading The Justice League?

If you’ve been reading Forever Evil, you know that it’s been positioning Lex Luthor as the man to lead independent-minded bad guys against the world domination of the Crime Syndicate from Earth 3. Now, as we see in the cover to Justice League #30, Geoff Johns and company are going to be letting that play out for the long haul, as Lex will be leading the post-FE Justice League – although that likely depends on who you ask, and you’ll note that Superman is conspicuously absent.

Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman and Shazam are accounted for, but hey, guess what? There’s Captain Cold as well, which fits in with The Rogues being anti-Syndicate folks, too.

“The Justice League is going to go through a lot of changes, obviously, in the wake of Forever Evil,” Johns said. “A lot of the blame can be put on their shoulders for what has happened: They were infiltrated and they fought each other and that led to the unleashing of the Crime Syndicate and the evil that took over the world.”

Yes, The Trinity War was an in-fighting mess for which the various Leagues won’t be easily forgiven.

“With fame and spotlight comes scrutiny and detractors,” he added. “I think the most interesting thing is that Lex doesn’t realize what it’s like to be a super hero, what the life is like. You make enemies, they attack you on a personal level. And he’s just Lex Luthor. He has no codename, no mask. He has to deal with the ramifications of that.”

Justice League #30 is due out in April. Get ready.
