Leonard Nimoy revealed through social media he is now suffering COPD — chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder — which only gets worse over time and makes it more difficult to breathe. Sadly, COPD has no known cure.
The 82-year-old Nimoy posted that he quit smoking 30 years ago, but that it wasn’t soon enough. Crave’s Geeks of Doom published the rest of Nimoy’s tweets Thursday. Nimoy says he has trouble walking distances, but seems to be keeping his spirits up and is clearly trying to get his followers who smoke to kick the habit now.
Smokers, please understand. If you quit after you’re diagnosed with lung damage it’s too late. Grandpa says learn my lesson. Quit now. LLAP.
