Earlier this year, Donal Logue was rumored to be playing James Gordon in Fox’s upcoming Batman prequel series, “Gotham.” While Logue eventually denied that he was up for Gordon, he never said that he wouldn’t be on the show.
Today, Fox announced that Logue will be joining “Gotham” as Detective Harvey Bullock, a long time supporting character within the Batman comics. In “Gotham,” Bullock will serve as a partner and a mentor of sorts for James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), although Bullock has a reputation for playing fast and loose with the rules. This will be the first time that Bullock has been portrayed in live action.
“Gotham” marks Logue’s return to Fox, after starring in the sitcom “Grounded For Life” back in 2001. Logue has more recently appeared on FX as the star of “Terriers” and a recurring role during the last two seasons of “Sons of Anarchy.” Logue is perhaps best known for starring in The Tao of Steve and for his co-starring stint on “Life.”
Yesterday, four of the other major roles from “Gotham” were filled, including Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin; Sean Pertwee as the Wayne family butler, Alfred Pennyworth; Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s boss, Captain Sarah Essen and Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée, Barbara Kean.
“Gotham” was developed by Bruno Heller and the pilot episode will be directed by Danny Cannon. Fox has ordered “Gotham”straight to series, so it will likely debut in Fall 2014.
