A few weeks ago, Matt Ryan was cast as the main character, John Constantine in NBC’s upcoming “Constantine” pilot. Now some of the supporting players have been found.
According to Deadline, Lucy Griffiths (pictured above) has landed the female lead in “Constantine.” Griffiths will play Liv, the offbeat daughter of one of Constantine’s friends who has the ability to see the supernatural beings in the world. Constantine becomes involved in Liv’s life when she is targeted by demons.
Griffiths is perhaps best known for her two season stint as Nora on “True Blood.” She previously costarred in BBC’s “Robin Hood’ and she has a role in the upcoming Winter’s Tale film.
“Lost” veteran Harold Perrineau is also joining “Constantine” as Manny, “an authoritative angel” assigned to watch over Constantine who can possess humans. Perrineau had a costarring turn in two of The Matrix films and he recently had a recurring role on “Sons of Anarchy.”
Charles Halford has also landed a role in “Constantine’ as Chas, a character who was played by Shia LaBeouf in the 2005 Constantine film. Chas is Constantine’s “oldest friend and staunch companion who possesses powerful survival skills that might possibly be supernatural.” Halford recently had a small role in HBO’s “True Detective” as Reggie Ledoux. He has also appeared in “Body of Proof,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Vegas.”
The pilot for NBC’s “Constantine” was written by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, with Neil Marshall slated to helm the first episode. Production is expected to begin soon.
