Like many film actors, Josh Hartnett has discovered that the time is right to transition to TV after critical and ratings successes like “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” and “The Wire.” Josh Hartnett has joined the cast of “Penny Dreadful,” a gothic horror series from Showtime that features classic literary figures like Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray sharing the screen together in a serialized format. In the series, Hartnett plays Ethan Chandler, an American abroad who becomes embroiled in the drama and the scares.
