SXSW 2014: Penny Dreadful – Josh Hartnett… by CraveOnline
Like many film actors, Josh Hartnett has discovered that the time is right to transition to TV after critical and ratings successes like “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad” and “The Wire.” Josh Hartnett has joined the cast of “Penny Dreadful,” a gothic horror series from Showtime that features classic literary figures like Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray sharing the screen together in a serialized format. In the series, Hartnett plays Ethan Chandler, an American abroad who becomes embroiled in the drama and the scares.
In this exclusive video from SXSW 2014, Josh Hartnett expresses his admiration for “Penny Dreadful” created John Logan, discusses his new job of keeping secrets, what he knows about his character’s many mysteries, how closely the series follows the original novels featuring the characters, previous movies and TV shows that brought horror icons together, why the ending of the first “Penny Dreadful” episode is a big deal, why he didn’t make the jump to TV earlier, and why TV scheduling is more intense than movies.
“Penny Dreadful” premieres on Showtime on May 11, 2014.
