Tech Squibs: Keep Leprechauns at Bay with Viper Security

This Tech Squib is loaded with St. Patrick’s Day tech relevance — if you squint. First of all, on this March 17th, there’s a need to keep those little green clad criminals out of your home and car. I mean leprechauns, not the Seattle Seahawks. Second, we all know St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland. Snakes? Viper? See that? So, there you go. It all comes together.

(Note: There’s no record of snakes ever having existed on the Emerald Isle, so it might’ve  been an easy miracle to manage. Still, Patrick did historically lead up the Catholic monasteries that preserved the medieval literary tradition during the Dark Ages. But, I digress significantly.)

Viper systems monitor your property with a suite of sensors that report back to your smartphone on demand. They’ll also alert you in case of an emergency, obviously.

The Starter Kit for Viper runs about $230, with add-ons expanding your security coverage for additional cost. You would end up paying more for most professional or DIY systems, while Viper does provide effective monitoring for its price.

I tested the systems out and can report not a single Leprechaun penetrated by estate’s outer defenses. I consider that a successful test.
