Madden 15 is coming. Or, should I say, Madden NFL 15. EA has announced that not only will the new Madden return to its former naming pattern, but that the latest entry will be available for purchase on August 26th. Yippee-kai-eh.
There hadn’t been a ton of new info before today, but EA has unloaded a bunch of cool-sounding stuff for Madden fans to start getting pumped about. A lot of it is vague, but even so, it sounds promising. Here’s a snippet from EA’s press release.
Madden NFL 15 delivers everything fans need to own their rivals on both sides of the field, including the most immersive defensive gameplay control in franchise history. Like the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seattle Seahawks, you can win championships and bask in the glory of success by building a great defense fit to challenge the best offenses in the game. Fans will also experience an entirely new broadcast presentation that delivers Madden NFL game day like never before with dramatic all-new camera angles, as well as dynamic pre-game and halftime features. It’s not just football, it’s Madden Season.
I’m definitely liking the sound of “immersive defensive gameplay” that trumps anything the series has ever done. EA also noted that it will again let fans vote on who makes the cover of the game — Richard Sherman, anyone? C’mon, you know it’d be hilarious.
There’s a new Madden site up and running here, as well as a cool-but-uninformative teaser trailer, which can be seen above. It does feature last year’s defensive player of the year, Luke Kuechly, which is certainly fitting if the new defensive gameplay is as innovative as EA says it is. Madden NFL 15 is coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, so last-gen holdouts can live another day, at least until the 2016 edition.
