James Faulkner Stars In Royals’ IPL Win

Australian all-rounder James Faulkner starred in the Rajasthan Royals IPL Super Over victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old claimed three 18th over wickets to force a tie in Kolkata’s run chase before restricting the Knight Riders to 11 Super Over runs, in turn matched by Aussie batters Shane Watson and Steve Smith. With scores still tied, the Royals were handed the win on a 19-15 boundary count.

Faulkner’s three wickets came at the cost of just 11 runs after he and Smith (19 from 11 deliveries) saw out the Rajasthan innings.

Shane Watson produced 33 runs from 24 balls as the No.4, beaten only by a 72 (59) by Ajinkya Rahane.

Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir scored 45 for the losing side.

Earlier this week, George Bailey and the Kings XI Punjab continued a five-match winning streak with a five-wicket win over Mitchell Starc’s Royal Challegers Bangalore.

The only undefeated side remaining in the IPL, Bailey led his side to the win with an unbeaten 16 from 16 deliveries while Glenn Maxwell’s hot start to the season (opening scores of 95, 89 and 95) slowed dramatically after he was dismissed by Varun Aron for a lowly total of 6.

Mitchell Johnson was also in action for the Kings XI and took the wicket of Mitchell Starc, who made noise himself by taking two impressive catches.
