Even before the end of “Breaking Bad,” Sony Pictures TV and AMC were eager to get a spinoff sequel series centering on Bob Odenkirk‘s Saul Goodman. Former “Breaking Bad” co-star Jonathan Banks also signed on for “Better Call Saul” earlier this year. But now, the first new cast member has been added to the show.
According to Deadline, Michael McKean has signed on to “Better Call Saul” in a co-starring role as Dr. Thurber, “a brilliant attorney who is now restricted by an unusual affliction.” McKean is a veteran of film and television, with memorable roles in This Is Spinal Tap, “Laverne & Shirley;” “Dream On,” Clue, “The X-Files,” “Smallville,” A Mighty Wind and many others.
“Better Call Saul” is expected to begin filming soon, with a premiere tentatively scheduled for November on AMC.
