Watch: Kieron Pollard Throws Bat At Mitchell Starc In IPL

Australian bowler Mitchell Starc was involved in a heated exchange with West Indies star Kieron Pollard in IPL action this week.

Starc and Pollard got into it during the Mumbai Indians’ 19-run IPL win on Tuesday night, resulting in the 1.96m Pollard throwing his bat at the Aussie in anger after some reckless bowling.

Tempers began to boil over when a high-speed bouncer from Starc rubbed Pollard the wrong way in the 17th over of the first innings. After exchanging words, Pollard backed wide out of the next delivery and Starc seemingly changed his bowling direction, sending a ball rocketing towards the legs of the batsman.

Pollard launched his bat at Starc in retaliation, but came nowhere close to hitting the retreating bowler after appearing to rethink his decision at the last second.

It continued on shortly after when Pollard was caught between wickets and the 24-year-old Aussie made a big display of the run out.

“It seems to be the case with Kieron and a lot of Australia players but I don’t think you can go throwing your bat at anyone,” Starc said.

Starc eventually got the better of the Pollard (43 runs from 31 deliveries), but his Royal Challengers Bangalore weren’t able to earn the win.

The Indians produced a total of 5-187 courtesy of 59 from captain Rohit Sharma and 68 runs from the final five overs. A solid start from Chris Gayle (38) and Parthiv Patel (26) had the Challangers in good position, however some fine ball work from Harbhajan Singh (2-33) helped to dismiss the big hitting AB de Villiers and skipper Virat Kohli (35) as the Mumbai recorded just their second win of the IPL season.
