Last month, Otto Octavius’ run as the Superior Spider-Man came to an end as Peter Parker reclaimed his body and his heroic alter ego. But we haven’t seen the last of the Superior Spider-Man.
Marvel has announced that Superior Spider-Man will resume in August for a two part story that finds Otto trapped in the year 2099. This will lead into the upcoming Spider-Verse crossover event and it was actually seeded in Superior Spider-Man # 19 when Otto briefly disappeared from the present before he was rescued by Horizon Labs.
The Superior Spider-Man creative team of Dan Slott, Christos Gage and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli will also be joined by Adam Kubert on the two part storyline.
“‘Superior Spider-Man’ #32 kicks off the edge of Spider-Verse,” explained Marvel Editor Nick Lowe. “Superior Spider-Man finds himself in 2099, finally a time where science and intellectual advancement is at least closer to his genius. He needs to find his way home, but things get a little more complicated than that.”
It’s not clear whether Superior Spider-Man will continue past issue # 33 in September, but it seems likely that this version of Spidey will be teaming up with several other incarnations during October’s Spider-Verse event.
