Steven S. DeKnight Is The New ‘Daredevil’ Showrunner For Netflix

Yesterday, comic book movie fans were stunned when Edgar Wright and Marvel Studios parted ways after several years of developing Ant-Man for the big screen. Earlier this morning, word broke that Drew Goddard would also be leaving Marvel’s “Daredevil” series.

However, Marvel has confirmed that Steven S. DeKnight has already been named the new showrunner of “Daredevil,” which will be the first of four 13 episode series slated to begin premiering on Netflix in 2015. DeKnight has a long history in genre television, dating back to stints on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer, “Angel” and “Smallville.” More recently, DeKnight created the “Spartacus” TV series on STARZ.

According to Marvel’s announcement, Goddard will remain with “Daredevil” as an executive producer while preparing to direct the Sinister Six movie for Sony.

With “Daredevil” slated to begin filming in July, casting announcements will likely be made in the near future.
