Spelling Bee Fail: Jacob Williamson Gives Most Amazing Spelling Bee Moment Of 2014

Junior high really is the worst. It doesn’t matter which decade or country you come from, it’s the most awkward time for us all. Now imagine what would happen if you had to live out that awkwardness on national television for all to see, under the pressure of the cameras, the lights, and the kabaragoyas of the world.

Jacob Williamson, a 15-year old out of Cape Coral, Florida was one of the last remaining finalists of the 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday night when he gave us a moment none of us will forget anytime soon.

While asked to spell “kabaragoya,” Williamson immediately proclaims in the most flamboyant way possible, “I know it, I know it, I totally know it!”

Unfortunately, he didn’t know it.

Deadspin made him a pretty good rapper.

If any of his peers at his new high school this fall have a brain, they will become friends with Jacob real quick. You know he’s going to be running Microsoft one of these days.

As for kabaragoya — it’s a large lizard native to South Asia.
