The Wiggles Do Under The Bridge, State Of Origin Style

Perhaps one of Australia’s most successful and world-renowned exports, The Wiggles, have stopped by Triple M studios today to perform their version of a more grown-up song, tackling one of our nation’s most contentious rivalries to the tune of the Red Hot Chilli PeppersUnder The Bridge.

The subject du jour was this Wednesday’s State of Origin battle and the new lineup of the children’s entertainment troupe took the opportunity to teach kids and their parents about the value of old fashioned good sportsmanship, by picking on the group’s one Queenslander, Lachie the purple Wiggle.

“Up here in Queensland the sun always shines,” sings the (purple) Maroons supporter. “Yes that’s right Lachie, it’s from your behind,” retort the yellow and red Wiggles, which you’ll see are no longer Greg and Murray. Other choice lyrics include referring to Brisbane as a “city of cane toads”.

The Wiggles 2.0 aren’t just Rugby League fans though, earlier this year they recorded a song for the World Cup, called, Go The Socceroos! (Hopping into History).
