Uruguay’s Luis Suarez has declared he is “100% fit” to face England on Thursday (June 19th), which will certainly send shivers down the spines of the English squad.
The Liverpool striker has confirmed he will be on the pitch for the match-up, after missing out on Uruguay’s embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica in the first game of the country’s World Cup campaign.
Speaking to Uruguayan publication Ovación Digital, Suarez said: “I have been training for a few days with the team and I am 100% ready, I now only need time on the pitch and to play the game.
“There is not one player that is going to be the saviour. We all have to work together to carry on.”
Both teams are looking to bag those crucial 3 points in the match, after England faced a disappointing loss to Italy on the weekend. Prior to Suarez declaring he would be making an appearance during the match, his Liverpool teammate Daniel Sturridge was asked whether the England squad were worried about coming up against the PFA Player of the Year, but Sturridge denied that was the case and stated he was not on “texting terms” with the striker whilst the World Cup was underway.
