UFC & Fox Fire Chael Sonnen After Second Failed Drug Test

It appears retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen will no longer have a career of any kind after UFC and FOX both terminated his contract Monday after another failed drug test. It is his second failed drug test over the last two months.

FOX released the following statement:

“The UFC and FOX Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen. This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June. Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May.”

Sonnen announced his ‘retirement’ following his first failed drug test June 11. He was officially suspended June 17 from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Sonnen initially tested positive in May for banned substances Anastrozole and Clomifene, both of which can be utilized to help treat men with hypogonadism, which Sonnen has said to have. Following the positive test, the fighter retired from professional MMA competition…

…The second exam in June resulted in Sonnen having traces of performance enhancers human growth hormone (hGH) and recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) in his system.
