NFL Reveals New ‘Top Selling Jerseys’ List

That spot, of course, goes to the round 1 NFL draft pick Johnny Manziel of the Browns. No shocker there. People love that party animal. However, the rest of the list has some jaw droppers.

Here are the top 11.

  1. Johnny Manziel
  2. Russell Wilson
  3. Peyton Manning
  4. Colin Kaepernick
  5. Richard Sherman
  6. Michael Sam
  7. Tom Brady
  8. Drew Brees
  9. Aaron Rodgers
  10. Seahawks’ 12th Fan
  11. Marshawn Lynch

Why did I include the ‘top 11’ here and not just the ‘top 10?’ Because it further proves the country’s fascination with the Seattle Seahawks.

Do they love the players and their outspoken personalities or do they just love jumping on a Super Bowl bandwagon? Who knows. Either way it’s obvious fans are in love with the team out of Seattle. Wilson, Sherman, Lynch AND the ’12th friggin fan’ amongst the best sellers? Gimme a break.

Next, and this is very cool, this list shows the country really supports Michael Sam — the first openly gay player to be drafted. No way this happens 10 years ago — at least not to this extent. Debate has been swirling this entire off-season in pro circles as to whether or not Sam will actually make the Rams roster — no way he can’t at this point. His story — and PR — is bigger than the team.

Finally, it’s obvious the trend of buying great quarterbacks continues. Why? Because it’s the most glorified, and yes I am one to argue, the most important position in all of sports. And as long as the quarterback is good — not even great, but good — they are the safest bet to stay with one team long enough to constitute buying his jersey. Manning, Kap, Brady, Brees, Rodgres — all solid options.

Not having a single Cowboy in the top 10 is a little surprising (15th, Dez Bryant), as well is having no AP (14th). Also note there are no players from either New York team listed.
