Comic-Con 2014: Hot Tub Time Machine 2 – Red Band Trailer

Comic-Con is the place to go for science-fiction of all shapes, sizes and genres… even the silly ones. This year Paramount brought with them the trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2, an impressively funny first look at the sequel that sends everyone but John Cusack forward in time for a change.

Where is John Cusack? Does it even matter? Hot Tub Time Machine 2 appears to have dumped the “normal” guy from the storyline, focusing on the three funny characters and the repercussions of their journey back in time. Rob Corddry has turned himself into a billionaire by stealing industrial ideas from the future, Craig Robinson is a pop superstar after just copying hit songs from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, and Clark Duke is still a nerd. Who now bears a striking resemblance to Billy Zane’s (presumably) favorite appendage.

Hot Tub Time Machine was one of the better stupid comedies of the last decade, partially because it was a smart movie hiding in a dumb one’s trappings. It looks like Hot Tub Time Machine 2 has the potential to be one of the better comedy sequels by changing the dynamic of the ensemble cast and taking the original conceit in a new and imaginative direction.

We’ll be back with an exclusive interview with Hot Tub Time Machine 2 star Clark Duke as our Comic-Con 2014 coverage continues at CraveOnline
