First Self-Publishing Awards To Be Hosted In Toronto

A new avenue for writers to receive acknowledgement is in the works – the Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards will offer cash prizes as well as a published title during Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair.

Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards will be the largest self-publishing award in Canada celebrating creativity and excellence in self-publishing.It is sponsored by publisher Blurb Inc.

With $50,000 in prizes available to be won, the awards recognize achievement in writing and give independent Canadian authors incentive to publish their work. Three grand cash prizes of $3,000 will be awarded to the winning books. In addition to the cash prizes, winners of “The Creation of Stories: Canada’s Self-Publishing Awards” will also receive up to 100 printed copies of their book, professional marketing consultation, a full Blurb marketing campaign, and a trip to INSPIRE!. All winning entries will be available for sale at INSPIRE!.

Blurb & AASC are also thrilled to announce The People’s Choice Award. In October, the public will have the chance to vote on nominated titles for this prestigious, $1000 cash award.

“To work with Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair in its first year is very exciting to us,” said Jason Lilien, director of marketing at San Francisco-based Blurb, to The Star. “We hope to make it a yearly event.”
