Well that was one hell of a day. Go ahead and sit down. I’ll wait until your head stops spinning.
The MLB trade deadline was the most memorable its been in recent years with all the moves and drama that played out Thursday afternoon. I’m not really sure where to begin… I suppose with the two biggest names: David Price and Yoenis Cespedes.
The Athletics made the first major splash of the day when they traded two-time Home Run Derby champion and All-Star Yoenis Cespedes to Boston for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes. For a few hours the A’s had the best rotation in all of baseball… until Detroit decided to respond…
David Price went to the Tigers and in return the Rays got Nick Franklin, Drew Smyly and Willy Adames from Seattle and Detroit. The Mariners got outfielder Austin Jackson, who actually had to get pulled mid-game in Detroit to be told to pack his bags.

The funniest moment probably came when these two Tampa and Detroit stations went after each other.
All of this means the Tigers now have three Cy Young winners in their rotation with Price, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. Ya, they are utterly ridiculous. We hope and pray for an Oakland vs. Detroit ALCS this fall. Don’t be surprised if it happens.

The Indians traded Asdrubal Cabrera to the Nationals….(here he is being sad, reportedly)
The Cardinals traded Allen Craig and Joe Kelly to the Red Sox for aged veteran John Lackey…
The Braves got Emilio Bonifacio from the Cubs, the Marlins got Jarred Cosart from the Marlins and the Yankees got Martin Prado from the D’backs.
