Gamescom 2014: Check out Six Minutes of Witcher 3 Gameplay

The Witcher 3‘s release date draws ever closer, and CD Projekt RED has taken the opportunity to release a new gameplay teaser during Gamescom week. As has been the trend since the game’s superb E3 showing, the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is looking as gorgeous, immersive, and mindbogglingly large as ever.

The teaser begins with Geralt arriving at the village Downwarren, where his bluntness immediately kicks in addressing a townsman with the phrase “nice village.” Classic. So classic, in fact, that he uttered the same phrase during the E3 demo. Anyway, there’s an unknown force that has been causing villagers to vanish, and it’s up to Geralt to get to the bottom of it. From there, he wanders out into the marsh and dispenses evil. That’s what a hero does, after all.

To me, what jumps out most in this teaser are the visuals. CD Projekt RED must really be in polish mode right now (though there’s probably lots of other work to finish as well), and it shows with the game’s impressive animation, lighting, and seamlessness with which the world is tied together. If I wasn’t already amped for this game, I would be now.

The Witcher 3 is slated for release on February 24. In the meantime, why not check out how it compares to its primary RPG competition?
