Earlier this week, Marvel revealed that Haley Atwell will be reprising her role as Peggy Carter on the second season premiere of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” later this month. And she won’t be alone.
TV Guide is reporting that Atwell will be joined by two of her Captain America: The First Avengers co-stars: Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan and Kenneth Choi as Jim Morita. Both Dugan and Morita were a part of The Howling Commandos, an elite group of soldiers who fought beside Captain America in World War II. The flashback sequence will take place in the ‘40s after Captain America was lost at the end of The First Avenger.
According to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” co-showrunner Jed Whedon, the link to the present is Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) admiration of Carter’s time with the proto-S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, the Strategic Scientific Reserve. “Coulson is a big student of history and wants to return to those old ideals of Agent Carter’s time. He’s, like, ‘Let’s be the S.H.I.E.L.D. we were meant to be!’ He wants to do the job right this time.”

Atwell will be starring in “Agent Carter” on ABC after “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” goes on its midseason hiatus. “Agent Carter” will follow Peggy’s attempts to rebuild her life in the aftermath of World War II while taking clandestine missions for the SSR.
Neither McDonough or Choi have been announced as cast members or guest stars for “Agent Carter.” However, their appearance on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” does make it seem likely they would also return for “Agent Carter.”
The second season of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will premiere on Tuesday, September 23.
