The Town that Dread Sundown, a horror remake (of sorts) that has been on CraveOnline’s radar for a very long time, has finally been completed and will finally hit theaters on October 16, 2014. The good news is, you don’t have to wait that long.
The film, a remake/reboot/sequel of the 1976 movie that helped inspire the slasher genre as we know it today, is produced by Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story“) and Jason Blum (The Purge: Anarchy) and takes place many years after the original murders that sent the residents of Texarkana into their homes after sundown, terrified of a serial killer who stalks the night wearing a burlap sack over his head. Is the killer in The Town That Dreaded Sundown the same one who terrorized the town in the original movie, a copycat or something more?
You can find out at a special free – FREE! – screening of The Town That Dreaded Sundown at the Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 4th at 7:30pm at the Egyptian Theater (6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, CA 90028). CraveOnline’s sister site Shock Till You Drop is co-hosting the screening, which will be followed by a Q&A with director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.
Please remember that although the screening is free, seats will be made available on a first-come, first served basis, so get there early.
