Sony has announced that online multiplayer will be available to everyone on the PS4 for free this weekend (September 26th – 29th).
This new promotion comes in the middle of an influx of popular releases, with Destiny having just launched and FIFA 15 right around the corner, meaning that those who haven’t yet signed up for a PlayStation Plus membership could find themselves increasingly enticed by the subscription service.

Sony announced the promotion on the official PlayStation blog, writing: “Starting 26th September at 8.00am BST/9.00am CET and for one weekend only, we are opening the gates to the world of online play, allowing everyone to challenge their friends and fellow gamers from around the globe in epic online battles.
“Now couldn’t be a better time to take advantage of this great opportunity, with huge PS4 titles already available to buy from PlayStation Store including Destiny, Diablo 3, The Last of Us Remastered and Watch_Dogs. And don’t forget FIFA 15 launches this week too!”
The free weekend of online multiplayer will not include the various other perks available to PlayStation Plus members, such as the monthly free games, PS Store discounts and cloud storage. However, it’s still a great time to check out the service given the amount of online-focused, popular titles that are currently making their way to the PS4.
