Next year, the Steven Spielberg produced “Falling Skies” will wrap up its five season run on TNT. But Spielberg may have a new show on the network soon after.
Variety is reporting that TNT has ordered a pilot episode for “Lumen,” a fantasy drama created by Chris Black (“Mad Men”) and produced by Spielberg’s Amblin TV. “Lumen” revolves around a family of four who find themselves mysteriously trapped in a “war-torn mystical world” that greatly resembles the novels of a famous female fantasy author who disappeared years before. Once there, they are plunged into the middle of a war raging between rival magical forces, of light and darkness. Facing peril at every turn, the family must unravel a complicated mystery and uncover some astonishing secrets as they struggle to find their way home.”

Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston is attached to helm the pilot episode of “Lumen” and as an executive producer alongside Black, James Frey, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Todd Cohen. In addition to Amblin TV, “Lumen” is also produced by Frey’s Full Fathom Five, TNT Original Productions and ABC Signature Studio.
A start date for “Lumen” was not announced. But with the pilot order in place, casting should begin soon.
