David Foster Foundation Gala Event Brings In Over $8 Million

The David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala and Concert, which took place this past weekend in Calgary, raised more than $8 million for families with children who are having organ transplants.

Musicians such as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Jennifer Hudson, and Babyface, all performed as well as donated money. In fact, Tyler started off the evening by offering $100,000. Jim Treliving, CEO of the Boston Pizza chain and one of the mainstay dragons on CBC’s “Dragons’ Den,” was honoured with the title of National Business Leader of the Year at the event and donated $1 million.

The David Foster Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing financial support for non-medical expenses to Canadian families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. In the past 26 years, the David Foster Foundation has assisted more than 800 families with children in need of major organ transplants, and in 2006, the Foundation became a national organization, expanding to help families across Canada. The Foundation works in collaboration with transplant teams across Canada to provide support for children up to and including their 18th birthday year once they are listed for pediatric transplant to post-operative checkup.

This weekend’s event raised more than $8.2 million, which was collected at the event through ticket sales, an auction featuring “once-in-a-lifetime” items, and private donations (CTV Calgary). For more info on how you can donate to the David Foster Foundation, visit their website.
