It’s happened to a lot of us: we get the job we wanted, only to find out it’s not the job we really wanted. But while some people just grin and bear it, Ben Barnes decides to take matters into his own hands in By the Gun. He goes behind the boss’s back, does whatever the hell he wants, increases revenues and probably gets a lot of people killed because By the Gun is about organized crime.
Director James Mottern, whose previous feature was the critically-acclaimed Trucker, calls By the Gun “an homage to Sidney Lumet and the elevated gangster films of the 1970s.” Considering that he just described one of cinema’s greatest directors and some of the best films ever made, we can safely assume that By the Gun is going to be dramatically ambitious.
Besides Ben Barnes – seen next in the big budget fantasy film Seventh Son – By the Gun also stars Leighton Meester (The Judge), Toby Jones (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Harvey Keitel (Bad Lieutenant).
CraveOnline is debuting the exclusive poster for By the Gun today, and you can check it out below. As you might imagine… there’s a gun in it. The title makes a promise that the poster already keeps!
By the Gun arrives in theaters and On Demand on December 5, 2014.
