Early next year, “The Flash” is going to bring in one of the major supporting characters from the character’s long history in the DC Universe. Except Barry Allen isn’t her Flash.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Malese Jow has been cast in a recurring role on “The Flash” as Linda Park, a reporter who may be the new love interest for Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. In the DC Universe, Linda Park was the longtime girlfriend and later wife of Wally West, the third Flash and Barry’s nephew by marriage.
This isn’t the first time that TV’s Flash has taken a love interest away from the Wally West Flash. On “The Flash” TV series from 1990, Tina McGee was repurposed as Barry’s partner and love interest despite never appearing alongside him in the comics. Amanda Pays was recently signed to reprise her role as Tina on the CW’s incarnation of “The Flash.”

Strangely enough, Linda Park has already appeared in a brief role in “Arrow,” during Gustin’s second appearance last season. In that episode, Linda was played by Olivia Cheng.
Prior to joining “The Flash,” Jow was best known for roles in “The Vampire Diaries” and “Star-Crossed.” She has also appeared in Big Time Rush, The Troop and Unfabulous.
Jow will make her first appearance on “The Flash” in the twelfth episode of the season. It will likely be broadcast in early 2015 on The CW.
