Yesterday, Boom! Studios teased a new Bill & Ted comic book series, which marks the franchise’s return to the medium after over twenty years. Now, the creative team has been named.
Boom! Studios has officially announced Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Return, a six issue miniseries by screenwriter Brian Lynch (Minions) and artist Jerry Gaylord. Additionally, Ryan North (Adventure Time) and artist Ian McGinty will provide backup stories about the time traveling duo originally played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves in two feature films.
The cover posted above was drawn by Felipe Smith, the writer of Marvel’s All-New Ghost Rider and a prominent Manga creator. In the cover, Bill & Ted are shown with an angry looking T-Rex, their old friends Abraham Lincoln and the alien known as Station…. and I’m gonna say that the woman is probably Cleopatra.
According to Boom! Sudios’ solicitations for the new series, Bill & Ted are attempting to turn a future enemy into one of their best friends by using their time traveling phone booth to visit the man when he was much younger.
“Following the time-traveling historic epic of Excellent Adventure and the turbulent life and death of Bogus Journey, Bill and Ted must now fulfill their destiny as the inspiration for galactic harmony! How can someone hate the Wyld Stallyns as much as the evil Chuck De Nomolos?
With the power of time travel, Bill and Ted set their sights on turning a young 27th-century Nomolos’ non-non-heinous attitude into something most outstanding and metal!”
Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Return # 1 will be released in March 2015.
