In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker from the original trilogy. But now that filming of that project has concluded, Hamill will be revisiting another role from his past.
Hitfix is reporting that Hamill will guest star on “The Flash” as James Jesse aka The Trickster, a role he originated on “The Flash” TV series that aired in 1990 on CBS. Hamill’s turn as The Trickster is widely regarded as the first step towards his more iconic DC role as the voice of The Joker for almost two decades.
While Hamill’s role is technically the same one that he played in the first “Flash” series, the reimagined James Jesse will now be “an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry and Det. West to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.”

In a statement, “The Flash” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said “Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash. Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes! We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”
Earlier this fall, Amanda Pays signed on to “The Flash” to reprise her role as Tina McGee from the original TV series. John Wesley Shipp, the star of CBS’ “The Flash,” already has a recurring role on The CW’s “The Flash” as Barry Allen’s father, John.
Hamill’s appearance on “The Flash” will be in the 17th episode of season 1. The casting of the modern day Trickster hasn’t been announced yet.
